Working for Jesus

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15

It’s entirely possible to be saved and have all your works go up in smoke, nothing to show for it. There are probably many who will find that to be true for them in their fiery hour of testing...and perhaps there are also many who will find the little things they did that they didn’t think added up to anything will end up being precious stones in their golden crowns, which they will lay at Jesus feet because after all God gets all the glory and praise. We have nothing unless it is given to us by God and even our next breath, our very next heartbeat is impossible without God sustaining us.
Our God is an awesome God.

  1. Amen and Amen! May we serve Him with the right motives of thankfulness and love for Him and others, for He is faithful to reward us! But good works done out of pride or to get the praise of men will burn up like hay and straw. Although how we live our life once we are saved affects our eternal rewards, praise God that we can never lose our salvation, once we are truly saved.
    Thanks for the great post and God bless!

    1. Amen, Laurie, only God sees the hidden part of us that contains our true motives, God creates in us a clean and true heart that desires what He desires, no truer motives than that! 💕

    2. The more we seek and trust Him, the more He gives us the desires of our heart, for our will becomes more closely aligned with His.
      God bless,

  2. Dear Susan,
    I once heard a sermon about the Judgement Seat of Christ, reserved for all believers. He likened it to a moving conveyor belt. Onto this belt every saint places his sack, which contains every work done since conversion. Each sack then passes through a furnace resembling a tunnel. Whatever comes out unscathed from the other end of the fiery tunnel will receive his reward. But unfortunately there will also be smoke arising from the ashes as it exits the furnace, to a greater or lesser extent, according to what each person had done in life. For those who will suffer the loss, God himself will wipe away their tears. However, because Christ himself had already judged all our sins on the cross, not a single believer will be shut out of Heaven.
    An excellent post, God bless.
